About me

I live and work in the Amsterdam area in The Netherlands.

During the period 1985 - 1991 I studied Art History at the University of Leiden. After my study I have taken photography courses at Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London (1999) and Fotoacademie in Amsterdam (2014-2016). From 2019 - 2021 I did a Post Master Arts Education at the University of Amsterdam.

I work as a teacher, art educator and visual artist.

Artist statement

My work invites reflection. Through the image I create and objets I make, I aim to offer moments of pause and contemplation. In a world filled with constant stimulation, I invite viewers to slow down and consider what is truly meaningful in their lives.

Nature is an important source of inspiration in my pratice, as is the exploration of the properties and possibilities of materials. A recurring theme in my work is the complex relationship between humans and nature: we admire it, depend on it, and idolize it, yet we also seek to control it and attempt to surpass it. My work reflects on this relationship - a relationship that reveals both deep connection to nature and our persistent desire to dominate it.
