About me

I live and work in the Amsterdam area in The Netherlands.

During the period 1985 - 1991 I studied Art History at the University of Leiden. After my study I have taken photography courses at Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London (1999) and Fotoacademie in Amsterdam (2014-2016). From 2019 - 2021 I did a Post Master in Cultural and Education at the University of Amsterdam.

I work as a teacher, art educator and visual artist.

Artist statement

In my artwork I aim to invoke thoughts. The images I make are invitations for contemplation. In a hectic world full of incitement I like to invite people to take time and to contemplate on what is genuinely important to them and their lives.

Looking to nature for inspiration and exploring the properties of materials. A recurring theme in my artwork is the relationship between men and nature: we love it, idolize it, need it, try to controle it and ever more often supersede it.
